A Sharper-Looking Subaru XV Breaks Cover

It’s no secret that Subaru will be revealing an all-new XV real soon. Well, the wait is finally over. The second-generation Subaru XV has broken cover at the ongoing Geneva Motor Show.

The latest iteration of the XV retains the familiar compact yet powerful profile of the original model, which was first seen in 2012. This pertains to the compact dimensions interspersed with a Low and Wide stance that is a Subaru signature styling cue. The hexagonal grille, hawk-eyed headlights, and stylish front fascia make it look really chic.

The SUV vibe is emphasized by matte black cladding, large fenders, and blacked-out rear spoiler. These are contrasted nicely by the newly-designed alloys finished in either Cool Grey Khaki or Sunshine Orange. It’s the perfect mix between SUV ruggedness and city-slicker coolness.

While the outside is a mix of rugged sophistication, the cabin is  both functional and stylish at the same time. Trademark Subaru straightforward dash layout ensures clear visibility of all vehicle functions at a quick glance. The 8-inch touchscreen helps keep track of vehicle, infotainment, and other vital data. It naturally syncs seamlessly with your smartphone and mobile device for safe, worry-free driving while keeping the driver connected to the world.

Besides the more rigid body and chassis that promise better handling and ride quality, the new Subaru XV is powered by a more potent FB20 2.0-liter horizontally-opposed “boxer” engine. This direct-injection mill puts out 156hp and 196Nm and is mated to the brand’s Lineartronic CVT gearbox with 7-speed manual mode. Of course, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive is part of the package.

What really sets the Mark II XV apart from its predecessor is the outstanding suite of safety gear. The aforementioned rigid structure ensures optimum protection. EyeSight, meanwhile, comes standard, offering such tech as Lane Keep Assist, High Beam Assist, and the like. It is all designed to reduce driver stress and promote enjoyment behind the tiller.

Those who have been keeping track may recall that Motor Image Pilipinas announced earlier this year that the new Subaru XV will arrive in the country before the end of 2017.
