August was another excellent month for Hyundai Asia Resources Inc (HARI), official Hyundai Philippine distributor, as it continued to sustain sales growth relative to last year. The Korean carmaker posted a 17% sales increase vis-à-vis last year’s figure—pegged at 3,273 units (from 2,798 vehicles).

The August sales figure brings total year-to-date output to 24,233 Hyundais sold from January this year. This is a 9% increase over 2016 sales, which stands at 22,134.

As before, the Accent was the main sales driver, specifically for the Passenger Car segment. The subcompact sold 1,383 units in August—up by 14% from 1,212 Accents sold last August 2016. This brings the Passenger Car volume up 2% to 2,122 units for the said month.

The Light Commercial Vehicle sector, particularly the H-100, grew by an even more remarkable 62%, pegged at 1,151 units. The H-100 sold 477 units in August—up by 23% fro 141 vans last year.

With this performance, HARI looks to have yet another record year as we enter the last quarter of 2017.
