Hino Motors Philippines is best known as a maker of some of the finest trucks and buses in the business. Yet the Japanese truck and bus maker is also into customizing its offerings so they can be utilized for various applications. Take the case of its latest project: the mobile kitchen.

HMP recently unveiled two mobile kitchens that will be deployed to the first and second districts of Davao City. Commissioned by the Davao City Social Services and Development Office, the mobile kitchens’ primary role is to help during disaster and calamity relief operations.

The two trucks-turned-mobile-kitchens began life as a WU600L chassis. From there, HMP equipped each one with heavy-duty cooking equipment, water dispensers, and mini water reservoir. There are also a foldable serving table and a complete set of utenils. These units are designed to respond to disasters in a quick 6 to 12 hours.

Should all go well, HMP and the Davao City government also plan to deploy a third unit for use by the city’s third district real soon.
