The last few years have witnessed Toyota Motor Corporation becoming sportier by the model intro. Proof of this is the unveiling of the practical yet fun-to-drive 86 (along with s Subaru BRZ twin), as well as the GR Series models that were introduced recently.

Yet for all its sporting aspirations, Toyota knows that all this can eventually take its toll on our environment. This is why It has come up with a few cool concepts that promise to give motorists the best of both worlds. Enter the Toyota GR HV Concept.

Set to be revealed at this year’s 45th Tokyo Motor Show, the cool Toyota concept is a sporty two-door that hides something special under the metal—a hybrid drive system. The GR (which obvious stands for Gazoo Racing) emphasizes the motorsport-oriented character of this hot number.  This can be seen in the TS050 hybrid racer-inspired headlights, the Targa top taken straight from cars like the legendary Toyota Sports 800, and the aluminum alloy wheels. The matte black paint job simply adds icing to the cake.

More sporty touches can be seen inside. One of these is the pushbutton starter mounted on the gear selector. Then there is the gear selector itself, which allows drivers to switch from fully automatic to manual mode at the press of a button. And once in manual mode, they can shift gears using the traditional H pattern.

As mentioned above, this Toyota sports car has a conscience. It is driven by the Toyota Hybrid System-Racing (THS-R) that ensures clean yet powerful performance. Moreover, the centrally-mounted battery gives the GR HV near-perfect front-rear weight distribution.

Yes, the Toyota GR HV Concept promises to give motorists a thrilling time behind the wheel, with the wind in their hair, yet still being kind to the planet. Catch it at the 45th Tokyo Motor Show, which runs from October 25 to November 5, 2017 at Tokyo Big Sight in Japan.
