Any car enthusiast knows just how valuable a classic car can be. The time and money you put into restoring and maintaining such beauties can never be calculated by any bean counter, no matter how accurate. Porsche Classic understands this, which is why it gives owners and collectors the Porsche Classic Vehicle Tracking System.

As the name suggests, the electronic device allows classic car owners and collectors to watch over their prized steeds via their smartphones. Using the Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) system, it monitors the location of the vehicle, among other things.

This function is useful, especially when the vehicle is stolen. In the unfortunate event that the battery is disconnected or the vehicle broken into and driven away, the owner is notified by the command center—which has been alerted by the in-vehicle sensor. Once the owner confirms that the vehicle is indeed driven off by an unauthorized person, the system will notify the proper authorities.

Besides the location and anti-theft functions, the Porsche Classic Vehicle Tracking System can also allow owners to remotely control functions as speed limiters, along with vehicle functions. This is useful during service appointments or when one lends the car to a trusted friend. And of course, a Transport mode is available for those times when you are taking your ride to a car show or the like on a flatbed truck.

The Porsche Classic Vehicle Tracking System is available for all types of Porsche Classics—from the 356 to the Carrera GT and everything in between. There are even special 6-volt packs to help avoid unwanted battery draining and electrical system overload. It will be available to order across Europe beginning in the second quarter of 2018.
