Cebu Pacific Air by Pinnacle Motorsport makes triple podium finishes in the 2017 Formula Masters Series Round 2
Round 2 of the 2017 Formula Masters Series (FMS) saw a stellar performance by the Philippine-based Cebu Pacific Air by Pinnacle Motorsport racing team. Held last May 5 to 7 at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, the team’s 3 ace drivers Taylor Cockerton, Antolin Gonzalez, and Ben Grimes made sure to put on a strong show of performance throughout the weekend’s 4 races, just as they did in Round 1.
In Race 1, Cockerton, who started from 8th place on the grid, made a valiant effort to clinch 2nd as the checkered flag waved. This would be the first of the New Zealander’s series of podium finishes for the entire race weekend. On the other hand, Grimes crossed the line in 7th place despite coming into contact with another car. It was a different story for Gonzalez, however, as the Spaniard retired from the race on lap 7 as a result of a DNF (did not finish).
Moving on to Race 2, Cockerton’s strong pace remained the same as he crossed the line in 2nd place once more. Meanwhile, Gonzalez managed to finish the race this time in 11th place. As for Grimes, the Filipino-British driver who took home 13th, almost had his race cut shot yet again as he got involved in another incident.
In Race 3, the podium didn’t saw any of the drivers as Cockerton, Grimes, and Gonzalez crossed the line in 5th, 9th, and 13th places, respectively. However, Cockerton went back into the zone in Race 4, thus finishing the race in 2nd. Gonzalez, on the other hand, settled for 10th, while Grimes came in 13th.
After Round 2, Cockerton now stands 4th at the Drivers’ Championship, followed by Gonzalez in 8th and Grimes in 10th. Meanwhile, the Cebu Pacific Air by Pinnacle Motorsport now sits 3rd in the Team Championship. Be part of the action again on June 16 to 18 as the Formula Masters Series moves to Zhuhai International Circuit in China for Round 3.Tweet
