The BMW brand is best known for cars that give the utmost in driving pleasure. Yet sheer driving pleasure need not come at the expense of safety. This is why the German marque’s Philippine distributor, Asian Carmaker’s Corporation, is embarking on a safety campaign to ensure that all its models are in step with the latest protective standards.

Certain models will be subject to a technical upgrade campaign that covers vital components of the vehicle. The two-step process involves the airbag for the 4th generation BMW 3 Series (1999 to 2004), the 2002-2003 4th gen 5 Series, and the 1st generation 2003 to 2004 BMW X1. The said nameplates may have metal fragments in their airbag assembly gas generators that could be propelled when the airbag is inflated,

The other phase of the upgrade pertains to the ISOFIX child seat anchors on the Mk II BMW X3 that was sold from 2010 to 2016, and the BMW X4 (2014 to 2016). These anchors might not withstand stress or bending load, says BMW.

Owners of the said models may bring their vehicles in for the necessary fixes, free of charge at any of the authorized BMW dealerships nationwide. They may contact their preferred dealer for more details.
