Chevron Philippines, marketer of Caltex fuels and lubricants in the country, has long been known to join various advocacies aimed at a healthy and productive society. In its latest bid, Chevron has teamed up with the American Chamber Foundation Philippines (ACF) for the 6th staging of the ScholaRUN, held at the SM Mall of Asia grounds last February 19, 2017.

ScholaRUN, which began in 2013, aims to raise funds for underprivileged youths, who despite their circumstances, deserve a better shot at life. This year’s run saw some 3,000 participants, wherein 200 were employees of Chevron Philippines. Another 3,000 were likewise part of the noble event, most of who were from AmCham member companies.

Runners got to participate in 3k, 5k, and 10k races. Each finisher took home a medal as a token of their support for the worthy cause. Beyond getting a well-deserved workout, each participant also got a chance to help some 100 deserving youths fulfill their dreams of having a bright future. And if only for this, all the sweat and exhaustion were truly worth it.

One of the 5k race finishers, Mary Rose Rodriguez, said it best as she notes, “It has always been a pleasure to be given the opportunity to run for a cause. Aside from promoting a healthy lifestyle, ScholaRUN allows me to contribute to national development in my own simple way.”
