The Clark International Speedway has always been touted as a world-class racetrack. This coming weekend, October 15-16, 2016, the circuit will indeed play host to an actual international event—the Formula 4 South East Asia Championship (F4 SEA).

This is the first time the FIA-sanctioned event will be held at the famous local circuit. The race, which is the second leg of the inaugural 2016/2017 season, promises to be bigger and more exciting The first race that took place at Sepang International Circuit last August only saw a field of around ten racers. This time around, the grid may just grow, thanks in no small part to our homegrown talent.

Among the expected participants are Gabriel Tayao Cabrera, who will venture from karting to single-seat racers in the No 51 car, Angie Mead King and Paolo Rodriguez, both of whom will try to show the newbies how it’s done, and brothers Sam and Benjamin Grimes, piloting the No 16 and 77 cars, respectively. All told, the second leg may see a 21-man strong grid, prepared by Meritus GP.

The historic races will be the first time that the series will be run in a counter-clockwise format. Petron Corporation, meanwhile, will be the official fuel sponsor. And visitors can expect to witness other support races, such as the Philminiracers Classic, Philippine GT Championship, Sparco Cup, and Mini Classic Aspirated Cup.

The F4 SEA Championship races are open to the public starting this Saturday, October 15. The first day will be free while a P60 admission fee will be charged per person on Sunday, October 16. Those who will bring their own vehicles should prepare around P200 for parking, covering the entire day.

If you’re a motorsports fan, this is one historic event you shouldn’t pass up.
