Solidifying its endeavour to champion environmental sustainability, Hino Motors Philippines (HMP), the exclusive local distributor of Hino truck and buses, recently held a tree-planting activity. This was made possible through an alliance with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP).

The aim of the said activity was to restore the water reservoir of the Marikina Watershed in Antipolo City, Rizal. The Marikina Watershed was among the areas largely affected by the wrath of Typhoon Ondoy, a typhoon that flooded a sizable part of Metro Manila and surrounding areas in Luzon back in September 2009. As regard, HMP sent out 50 of its volunteers to the area to plant 1,250 tree seedlings.

“Planting of tree seedlings is one of the best ways to prevent immense flooding brought about by strong typhoons. Our commitment to this project is aligned with our corporate mission to make the world a better place to live in by helping people and goods get where they need to go safely, economically and with environmental sustainability,” said HMP HR Manager Adelia Grimalt.

Aside from restoring the area to its former beauty, the activity likewise aimed to covey a positive vibe and a sense of empowerment, especially to the people of Barangay Calawis as their place was also hit by Typhoon Ondoy.

The tree-planting activity is just one of HMP’s corporate-social responsibility projects. It also holds medical missions, as well as Brigada Eskwela and bloodletting projects. To know more about Hino Motors Philippines, visit the official website.
