The second-generation Peugeot 3008 compact Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) may have only been around for a little less than a year, yet it has already won quite a number of awards. A host of award-giving bodies has recognized the svelte CUV for its performance, style, and innovative features. And now, the compact Pug has just received what is arguably the most coveted title to date: the distinguished 2017 Car of the Year.

The award, which was bestowed on the Peugeot 3008 at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, was the result of careful deliberation by an esteemed panel of 58 of Europe’s finest motoring journalists. While it may be the fifth Peugeot to win the prestigious title, it is the very first Sport Utility Vehicle to bag the honor since the award was conceived in 1964.

The 2017 COTY prize, Peugeot says, is further proof of people’s confidence in the brand and the product. Nearly 100,000 orders have been placed for the 3008 in the Euro market alone since it was introduced last year. People seem to like the cool and cutting-edge features like the i-Cockpit, the range of diesel and gasoline motors, leading safety kit, and stylish looks that put it a cut above the rest.

The Peugeot 3008 joins the ranks of models like the 308 (2014), 307 (2012), the 405 (1988), and the 504 (1969), which have all garnered the coveted Car of the Year trophy.  And yes, Peugeot Philippines says that it will be bringing in the said model within the year.
