Just a couple of weeks after unveiling the Porsche 911 Turbo S Exclusive, the German sports car maker follows this up with what is dubbed as the most potent 911 to date: the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. The car will have its world premiere at the ongoing Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend.

Touted as the most powerful road approved 911 in the nameplate’s 54 year history, the car builds upon the potent nature of the Turbo S and adds a host of upgrades to bring out the true beast from within. The 3.6-liter bi-turbo flat six, for instance, adds some 80hp to the already powerful motor, raising output to a heady 700hp. This is done by using large turbochargers that force processed air into the combustion chamber. In addition, a new cooling system sprays the charge-air cooler with water to help lower gas temperatures. The result is increased power even under heavy loads.

Apart from this, a specially fabricated titanium exhaust translates to less weight and unparalleled sound. Plus, the 7-speed PDK gearbox ensures lightning-quick shifts even under extreme porsche 911 gt2 rs3conditions.

In plain motoring-speak, the high power, combined with 750Nm of torque allows the Porsche 911 GT2 RS to accelerate from rest to 100kph in just 2.8 seconds and go all the way to a blistering 340kph top speed. Beyond the ultra-quick straight-line performance, this Porsche gives its pilot the true driving fun befitting any GT car, particularly when it comes to cornering.

Goodies like Ultra High Performance tires and rear-axle steering, along with sport-tuned Porsche Stability Management ensure optimum grip and provide high cornering speeds and stability during those critical yet fun moments. This is aided by Porsche Ceramic Composite Braking (PCCB), large air intakes and outlets in strategic places, a huge rear wing, and wide and grippy 265/35ZR20 tires up front and 325/30ZR21 rubber at the rear.

Like any 911, the GT2 RS boasts body parts that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing at the same time. Various sections like the front wings, wheel housings, door mirror housings, and rear section are made from lightweight carbon fiber reinforced plastic. The hood is done is carbon, while the roof is formed using magnesium. And in true GT fashion, these sections don a wide lateral swage line.

Just like the outside, the cabin has a host of cool niceties to make the place a tad more special. Red Alcantara, black leather, and carbon weave adorn the sports seats and certain interior bits. Porsche Communication Management is likewise part of the package, allowing drivers to connect with the world, ans well as stay entertained with music, media, and of course, the drive and its various facets. The Track Precision app makes sure of this by allowing one to record all driving data and analysis for optimum performance.

Like any performance car, Porsche lets buyers have a bit more fun by giving them the Weissach Package. This helps drop the already lightweight sports car’s mass by some 30kg to help optimize driving performance. Stuff like carbon fiber reinforced plastic and titanium elements such as the roof, axle rod couplings, and anti-roll bars, while magnesium wheels complete the transformation. You know you’ve got the Weissach Pack when you see the color-keyed central strip on the roof and luggage compartment lid.

To complete the ownership experience, buyers will get an exclusive Porsche Design 911 GT2 RS watch to complement their sporty ride.  Porsche will debut the 911 GT2 RS at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, which runs from June 30 to July 2, 2017.
