The Volvo 90-Series—the S90, V90, and XC90—are fairly new models in the Swedish carmaker’s stable. Yet Volvo has seen it fit to upgrade these nameplates with new connectivity, safety, and powertrain upgrades to ensure that their owners get nothing but the best out of their vehicles.

The infotainment system, for instance, now supports Android Auto, aside from Apple CarPlay. This allows drivers to stay connected to the outside world even as they keep their eyes on the road and hands on the steering wheel. Over-the-Air updates have also been enabled, ensuring that data, such as maps and the like, are always up-to-date. This, together with the split-screen view, makes it possible to control one’s smartphone and the car’s various vital functions without switching views. Again, it’s all in the name of safety.

????????????????????????????

Speaking of safety, the 90-Series models now come with safety gear like Slippery Road Alert and Hazard Light Alert. The cool kit essentially “reads” the road behavior, vehicle status, and other data ahead and warns the driver of impending danger. This allows for necessary maneuvers or action to be taken to avoid a mishap.

Being a Volvo, however, the Slippery Road and Hazard Light Alerts won’t simply keep the 90-Series driver on their toes. It will likewise warn drivers of vehicles following it of the said conditions, also to help them avoid a spill or worse. Using the connected car architecture, it is designed to ensure that the entire road network is free of any accidents.

Of course, no upgrade would be complete without an engine modification or two. In this case, the D3 diesel motor variants are now touted to be much more economical and emit less harmful gasses. And thanks to the ingenious Scalable Product Architecture, all these updates are easily integrated into the vehicles, without the need for costly modifications.

We can expect the upgraded S90, V90, and XC90 models to hit Volvo showrooms, including Philippine dealerships, real soon.
