There’s no denying that the heat is definitely upon us. Temperatures are on the rise and we’re all feeling the brunt of summer. Yet this doesn’t mean we need to take it sweating ourselves dry.

Take the case of Chevrolet and its line of vehicles. Its Philippine distributor, The Covenant Car Company Inc has equipped offerings like the Colorado and the Trailblazer with tech such as Remote Engine Start that allows owners to turn on the engine and airconditioning even while outside the vehicle. This allows them to cool down the car’s cabin amid the scorching heat.

Studies have shown that a vehicle’s cabin, when left parked in the midday sun, can become as hot as 48 degrees Celsius while its dashboard can heat up to 72 degrees Celsius. These are extremely dangerous for anyone left inside the vehicle for prolonged periods of time.

This is why features like Remote Start are useful. By using the key fob, one can switch on the engine and automatic aircon to cool down the cabin in a matter of minutes. It also comes in handy when making a quick pitstop. One simply locks the doors while leaving the engine and aircon running. It’s both safe and helpful for the remaining occuptns.

Of course, other measures can be taken to keep the interior cool. Installing window tint, for instance, is helpful to reduce the amount of UV rays coming into the cabin. We’re not talking about super dark film. Just a light shade would be enough to cool things down a bit.

So whether you drive a Chevrolet or not, keep cool this summer.
