Audi is best known for innovative technologies that go into each of its offerings. Among its more notable tech are quattro all-wheel drive and the Audi Space Frame. Porsche, on the other hand, has built a name around building some of the best sports cars in the business. In fact, the genes of the iconic 911 are practically placed into every Porsche—including its Cayenne and Macan SUVs.

Now the two sister companies under the Volkswagen Group are set to collaborate on future projects that are set to shape mobility within the next few years. The green light has been given for Audi and Porsche to join forces in developing vehicle architecture and platforms, as well as components and modules. Using each one’s expertise, this joint work will go into coming up with these various systems.

With a target of coming up with the next-generation mobility by the year 2025, the Audi-Porsche project hopes to shape trends in the areas of electric mobility, digital connectivity, and autonomous driving. We all know that Porsche is hard at work on its Mission E electric vehicle, while Audi has various e tron models in production and in the pipeline. Both companies likewise have their respective digital and connectivity systems. And even if it is a driver-centric carmaker, Porsche, like Audi, knows that autonomous mobility can help the driver have a less stressful and safer time behind the wheel.

Cooperation within the Volkswagen Group is nothing new. Volkswagen has teamed up with both companies in the past, which resulted in various SUVs and cars being developed. The Audi-Porsche collaboration is set to begin work within the next few months. Let’s all stay tuned to see what the fruits of this team up will be. If their respective track records are to be the basis, we’re quite certain it will be a sporty and timeless vehicle with cutting-edge tech.
