The Dakar rally is famous for being the ultimate test of both man and machine. For twelve days, hundreds of cars, quad-wheeled vehicles, motorcycles, and trucks engage in a battle for supremacy. And we’re not simply talking about a clean and controlled racetrack. They’re out there in the great outdoors battling the elements, fatigue, and the like.

Now on its 39th staging, the Dakar Rally is set to make a comeback from January 2-14, 2017. It will cover three countries, namely Paraguay, Bolivia, and Argentina. And this time around, BFGoodrich, world renowned tire maker will once again become the official tire supplier.

The tire company will fit its BFGoodrich Baja T/A KR2, All-Terrain KDR, and All-Terrain KDR2 rubber on more than 300 vehicles. This is BFGoodrich’s very own real-world test lab. While many firms use a clean, sanitized facility to test the durability and capabilities of its products, BFGoodrich begs to differ by subjecting its offerings to some of the most grueling conditions around. This would help ensure that their tires can withstand anything vehicle owners throw at them. And we’re quite certain that not everyone goes dirt rallying every day. BFGoodrich, however, is no newbie to the Dakar scene. Since its class victory in 1993, it was garnered over 12 wins, with ten consecutive top prizes from 2002-2012. So you can see how committed they are not just to the Dakar race but to giving us ordinary road users the utmost in tire technology.
