Education, it has been said, is one of the best legacies we can pass on to the youth.  It opens new doors and provides an opportunity for a better life. And this is what Mazda Philippines, through its official distributor Bermaz Auto Philippines, is giving a group of underprivileged yet deserving youths.

Together with MFI Foundation Inc, Mazda Philippines has been sponsoring students to the MFI’s Industrial Technicians Scholarship Program. Now on its third batch, the program has just accepted 20 more students to train under the said course.

As part of MFI\s skills training program under the TESDA-accredited Dual Training Automotive Motorcycle Technology course, students will undergo a year of academic learning at MFI\s campus. This will be followed by 1,440 hours of on-the-job training at various Mazda dealerships the following year. Upon graduation, these students can then go on to become certified automotive and motorcycle service technicians.

This year’s screening process saw more than 50 young men and women try their hand at entering the program. After a series of rigorous examinations, the final 20 students were then selected. This year’s batch includes a fine mix of youths who, despite their circumstances in life, have shown the passion and determination to persevere in reaching their goal of learning the fundamentals of automotive and motorcycle technology, troubleshooting, and repair.

Among the selected group are Shareen Joy Ramos, a highschool graduate from Mindoro, Ralph Eugene Merced of Albay, Mindoro native Leandrex Paglicawan, and Riza Alayon from Taytay, Rizal.

Since its inception in 2014, the Mazda MFI scholarship program has witnessed around 80 young men and women go on to pursue a career in the automotive industry. Eleven students, for instance, how work at various Mazda dealerships while the rest have taken on jobs within the automotive sector.

Yes, education truly helps improve one’s life.
