The year 2017 may have been a great year for Porsche, particularly in the world of motorsport. But instead of resting on its laurels, the German luxury sports car maker continues its bid to reach greater heights in 2018 with the announcement of its plans for the coming year.

At the recent Night of Champions motorsport gala, Porsche let everyone in on what it plans to do in the world of motorsport within the next few months. First up, the world of Le Mans will see four new factory vehicles being fielded for the coming season. These will be made up of two cars each from the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) team and another pair from the IMSA WeatherTech contingent.

These cars include the #91 car to be driven by Gianmaria Bruni, Richard Letz, and Fredric Makowieki; the #92 piloted by Kevin Estre, Michael Christensen, and Laurens Vanthoor; #93 will see Earl Bamber, Patrick Pilet, and Nick Tandy behind the wheel; while #94 will have Timo Bernhard, Dumas, and Tandy at the helm. Each one of these Porsche 911 RSRs will have 510hp and will compete under the Porsche Works flag.

Apart from this, the Porsche 911 GT3 R gets an upgrade in the form of a new front lid and side flicks to help improve on aesthetics and overall performance. These updates will help Porsche’s cause as it competes in events like the ADAC 24 Hour race at the Nurburgring. A total of 9 cars will compete in this tilt, with five joining the pro class, while the other four will duke it out in the amateur division.

In line with the, Porsche will be ushering in a new racer—the 911 GT3 Cup. This 485hp one-make racer will see action in a majority of Porsche races and events. And while the 911 GT3 Cup makes presence felt, the three-time Le Mans winning Porsche 919 Hybrid will bid farewell at the end of 2018. It will be fielded in a series of farewell events, celebrating its success, culminating in a final trip to the Porsche Museum at the end of the year.

With all these events lined up, it looks to an exciting 2018 for Porsche.
