The Porsche Macan gets a mild refresh

The Porsche Macan first entered the scene in 2014. Since then, it has gone on to become the German sports car maker’s most sought-after model. It outsells its 911 sibling and has given new car buyers the chance to experience the Porsche brand in a more practical way. But like all things, it’s time for a bit of a refresh.

Porsche has just unveiled a facelifted version of the new compact SUV. When Porsche says facelifted, it actually means spot the difference from the old and new. This one gets a new headlight and daytime running light signatures up front. The wheels are likewise new yet still come in staggered sizes front and back. And the biggest exterior change is the taillights that now feature a light strip spanning the entire length of the vehicle—a la Panamera and Cayenne.

Another area that Porsche chose to fiddle with is the infotainment system. It now boasts a large 11-inch touchscreen and features Intelligent Voice Control and a navigation system. This helps give the dash a cleaner and sportier design. Apart from this, the GT sports steering wheel can also be specified to increase the sports car feel inside the practical yet sporty cabin.

This being a Porsche, the chassis gets a bit of tweaking with new suspension tuning and updated tires. The rubber promises to provide better grip as well as increased balance between ride comfort and handling. Porsche, however, has not revealed any details about updated engines.

Still, the new Porsche Macan now sports a look that ties it in with the rest of the Porsche family even more. It is a change that should keep customers happy and purchasing even more of the compact crossover in the years to come.

Expect to see the new Porsche Macan hit dealers later this year.
