Ever Wonder What a Lexus Spacecraft Would Look Like? Imagine No More

Lexus has been coming out with a lot of stunning designs lately. The LC sports coupe and the UX Concept are just some examples of how the Japanese luxury marque has come out with bolder lines and styling cues. But nothing may be more radical than this: a 28th-century spacecraft.

The latest Lexus project is a collaboration between Toyota’s luxury brand and film company EuopaCorp, producers of the upcoming science-fiction flick Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. The movie, which stars Dane DeHaan (Valerian) and Cara Delevingne (Laureline), is an adaptation of the French comic series Valerian that was written by Pierre Christin and illustrated by Jean Claude Mezieres.

Produced by Virginie Besson-Silla and directed by Luc Besson, it looks at how Valerian and Laureline help maintain peace in the intergalactic city of Alpha and do their best to thwart the plans of those who want to inflict harm on its seventeen million inhabitants.

Making things more interesting is SkyJet—the creation by Lexus and the Valerian team that brings to life a futuristic spacecraft that possesses real-life styling cues, courtesy of Lexus. This can be seen in how the famous Lexus spindle grille is integrated up front in the craft. Then there are the Lexus LC-inspired headlamps that also find their way into the vehicle, which is supposedly being used 700 years into the future.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets will hit cinemas in July of 2017. Before it does, Lexus and the Valerian team will be holding a slew of activities leading up the screening. They start with the teaser, which we have above. Enjoy!
