As we reach the halfway mark of the year 2017, Hyundai Asia Resources Inc (HARI) sales continue to rise, once again showing the brand as a formidable force in the industry. HARI pegged total sales for the first half of the year at 17,364 vehicles—up by 6% from the 16,362 units sold during the same period last year.
Credit goes to the strong showing of the hot-selling Hyundai Accent, which sold some 7,711 examples . This brings passenger car sales up by 7% to 12,037 from 11,207 cars during the previous year.
This was complemented by an equally robust Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) segment, selling some 5,237 vans and trucks. Thanks to models like the popular H-100 truck, the class grew by around 3% vis-à-vis the same period in 2016.
And while Gross Domestic Product (GDP) didn’t grow as expected, finishing the first half of the year at just 6.4% (below the projected 6.6-7%), HARI is still confident that the remaining six months of the yer 2017 will continue to be a prosperous one for the brand and the auto industry as a whole.
