After its much-anticipated world premiere in Detroit, Toyota’s modern-day icon, the Supra makes its way to the Philippine market. Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation has finally taken the wraps off the joint project with German luxury carmaker BMW.
Yes, in case you didn’t know, the Supra has been co-developed alongside the latest-generation Z4. Sharing components like the engine and other bits, Toyota’s two-door sports car has a look all its own. Keen observers will note that it takes its cue from the FT Concept that debuted earlier this decade. The slim headlights flank a racing-inspired nose cone while the soping liftbck and sleek taillights along with large 18-inch alloys give the car a sophisticated vibe.
Step inside and you will be greeted by a driver-centric cabin that inspires one to grip the leather-wrapped steering and get moving. Sure, it may look like a BMW in here but that’s not a bad thing as everything seems to be laid out well. An 8.8-inch instrument display and touchscreen of the same size give info about the var’s vitals and infotainment, respectively. There is even a heads-up display that allows one to keep their eyes on the road while still being on top of things.
Powering the new Supra is a BMW-sourced 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-6 that puts out 335hp and 500Nm of torque. All that juice is sent to the rear whels via 8-speed automatic that also features a limited-slip differential. For those wondering, 0-100kph times are pegged at 4.3 seconds.
Safety comes in the form of dual airbags, ABS, traction and stability control, and a reverse camera.

Black Metallic, Deep Blue Metallic, Ice Gray Metallic, Lightning Yellow, Silver Metallic, and White Metallic retails for Php 5,050,000
