Mazda, through its official local distributor Bermaz Auto Philippines, Inc. (BAP), has announced that it sold a total of 5,244 units in 2017, making the past year as its best ever since 2013.

This is helped by its December sales feat of 1,006 units, the highest selling month on its 2017 calendar.

BAP credits this achievement to the customers’ increased demands for its Kodo-designed models such as the Mazda2, Mazda6, CX-3, CX-5, CX-9, and MX-5. All these come with notable built quality, MZD Connect in-car connectivity and infotainment system, and SkyActiv tech.

Leading the sales charge is the Mazda2. This subcompact was sold a total of 1,485 times last year. BAP Claims that this high sales performance is due to the vehicle’s appeal to first-time car buyers. Fitted with advanced tech and amenities, the Mazda2 is touted by the brand as something that rivals even the more premium models in its class.

Next in line is the CX-3 subcompact crossover, which registered a total of 327 units sold last year. This is followed by the MX-5 roadster with 246 units sold, and the CX-9 7-seat crossover with a total unit sales record of 191.

On BAP’s part, its PR and marketing teams have shown utmost efforts to boost brand awareness through a number of events and corporate social responsibility projects last year. Some of these include the Jinba-Ittai Public Test Drive, its partnership with the Automobile Association of the Philippines for the 2017 Motorsports Development Program, and the Mazda PH/MFI Foundation Scholarship Program to name a few. All these contributed to the increased popularity of its entire model range.

In light of the successful year that was, BAP President and CEO Steven Tan was quoted as saying, “2017 was indeed a banner year for us at Mazda Philippines. “Not only did we surpass the ‘5,000 within five years target’ which we set for ourselves back in 2013 when BAP started its operations in the country, we also established new sales records for 9 out of the 12 months of 2017. This is a clear indication that Mazda’s striking Kodo design and groundbreaking SKYACTIV Technologies have become top of mind features for those who look for premium quality and craftsmanship along with value for money from their vehicle purchases.”
