The onslaught of the Corona Virus Disease 2019 or COVID-19 has rocked the country down to the core, claiming lives and challenging the Philippine economy. With a situation as serious as this, the Philippine government had to put the nation under all kinds of quarantine levels to mitigate the spread of the virus, as much as it could.

The result of this is a drastic change in almost all of the forces that move the Philippine economy prior to COVID-19, and this includes food and restaurant businesses. Under quarantine, many dining establishments have temporarily stopped operations or have resorted to alternative means of keeping their business afloat with safety precautions in mind. One of these food establishments which have chosen to carry on is Binalot, a popular fast food brand known for serving hearty Pinoy meals packaged in banana leaves.

With no time to waste, Binalot had immediately adjusted its operations in order to adapt to the so-called “new normal” ways of doing food business. Among these is the introduction of shuttle service provisions for its crew, which is a safer alternative to using public transport.

It also maintained some outlets open to focus on delivery of meal pledges for the medical and non-medical front liners. And while on the subject of deliveries, those craving for its best-selling food items can still order through GrabFood and LalaFood.

As for the stores, Binalot made sure to double up on safety and sanitation by having its crew thoroughly sanitize and disinfect the entire place before operations so that the virus may be eliminated at the start of the day.

Impermeable plastic barriers have also been set up at the counters to protect both crew and customers from any droplets, both of whom are required to wear face masks. Finally, proper distancing of tables and chairs have been arranged to adhere to social distancing protocols.

"We acknowledge that as of this moment, the Covid crisis does not show a clear end in sight. Binalot decided early on that for the sake of its employees and loyal customers, it will adapt to survive and succeed in living with the pandemic for so long as it is necessary. We need to learn to live with it until a vaccine is found. And we fervently hope it is going to be sooner than later,” shared Binalot CEO Rommel Juan.
