Teachers are able to use smart TVs to tap in the wealth of learning materials online for their lessons

It used to be that teaching math subjects in high school was done by using large Manila Paper as a visual aid. Yet this could very well be a thing of the past, especially for 30 of the highest-need high schools in the Ilocos and Cordillera region that benefited from the very latest Caltex Fuel Your School campaign.

Organized by Chevron Philippines Inc and Northern Star, the Fuel Your School campaign for the Ilocos and Cordillera region witnessed some 52,000 high school students and 1,781 teachers from 30 of the highest-need public high school receiving around P3 million worth of learning tools to help them learn Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).

Thru the efforts of Northern Star, the group that operates a host of Caltex stations in the region, a drive was held to collect P1 for every liter of fuel that motorists filled up on during the period of June 1 to July 31, 2018. The fund drive was supported by students who used tools like social media and the like to entice motorists and other folks to support this worthwhile cause.

In the end, each of the 30 schools received around P100,000 in learning equipment. These will be used to make teaching and learning a lot more fun and visually appealing.

Since its inception some four years ago, the Caltex Fuel Your School has helped  thousands of public high schools and millions of students in the National Capital Region, Davao, Bicol, and now, Nothern Luzon.

Teachers, students and a Caltex executive assemble the newly-donated robotics kit.

With the new lab equipment, students are able to quickly test their skills and knowledge.

The interest in robotics is growing among public high school STEM students with the numerous requests for robotics kits.

With their new equipment, STEM students are able to creatively apply science concepts.
