Just in time for the holiday season, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has announced the opening of a new 10.10 Km extension to the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX).
In a statement issued by the government firm, it said that the extension would connect Binalonan to Pozorrubio in Pangasinan, and significantly cut the travel time from Tarlac to Pozorrubio from 2 hours and 30 minutes to just 45 minutes.
In addition, the firm also said that the 10.10 Km extension would also make the entire TPLEX longer at 78.39 Km, thus providing easier access for motorists going to Central and Northern Luzon regions.
Of note, DPWH will open the extension on December 6 with most of its infrastructure nearing completion. Its developer, Private Infra Dev Corp. (PIDC) has even committed that it will finish the remaining parts of the new road before Christmas.
Beyond Pozorrubio Pangasinan
In the same press statement, DPWH Secretary Mark Villar revealed that extension’s final stretch, a 10.92 Km connecting road from Pozorrubio Pangasinan to Rosario La Union, is set to be completed in June next year.
“Upon full completion, TPLEX would reduce travel time from Tarlac to Rosario, La Union from 3.5 Hours to just an hour, benefitting an average of 20,000 vehicles per day,” Villar concluded.
