Ferrari gives us a new way of painting our cars

While Ferrari may choose to manufacture its cars using age-old hand-built methods, the Italian carmaker isn’t one to be left behind when it comes to employing the latest tech. Case in point is its new Low Cure paint process which it unveiled recently.

The new Low Cure process utilizes a low bake temperature procedure that allows the car to be painted at a steady 100 degrees Celsius as opposed to the usual 150 degrees. What this translates to is lower energy consumption and costs and thus, lower environmental impact.

Apart from this, the paint process employs a new hardener for enhanced chemical and mechanical resistance. Moreover, the cross-coat linking ensures greater protection for your paint job as it resists water much better than ordinary clear coats.

Plus, this new clear coat paint process can be used on either metal surfaces or carbon fiber and composite components. This allows Ferrari to provide a wide variety of colors on an equally diverse array of surfaces.

Ferrari is no stranger to cutting-edge paint technology. In 2004, the Prancing Horse gave us water-based paints. Now, it introduces a new paint process that isn’t just friendly to the environment but can be used even on today’s newer components. With this, we can expect to see more Ferraris with truly vibrant paint schemes.
