If you grew up in the 1990s, chances are you’d remember the gaming title Mario Kart. First released in 1992 by Nintendo for its Super Nintendo Entertainment System, the game was a spin-off of one of its most popular titles, Super Mario.
Since then, the game has gone on to sell some 100 million copies and has spawned roughly thirteen titles for gaming consoles, portable gaming, and arcade games. The latest release is the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for Nintendo Switch that came out in 2017.
To celebrate its success, no less than world-famous toymaker Mattel will be coming out with a Mario Kart Hot Wheels series in 2019. The line of cars to be made include characters from the series such as Rosalina, Toad, Mario, Bowser, Princesss Peach, Luigi, and Super Mario. The said cars take inspiration from the racy cars in the latest installment of the Mario Kart franchise. Speaking of which, Hot Wheels will also release a series based on that title.
But for now, toy and car collectors alike should be more than happy with this cool set. Each car, Mattel says, should retail for around $4.99 when they come in sometime next year.
