With 9,949 units sold during the first quarter of 2019, Hyundai Asia Resources inc reports a significant 12.5 percent growth over the same period last year. This is a testament to the Korean carmaker’s continued strength in the local automotive industry.
Passenger Car sales likewise grew by 12.9 percent to 5,404 cars leaving showroom floors during the first three months of the year. This can be attributed to the strong showing of models like the all-new Accent, as well as the new Reina. The Light Commercial Vehicle segment, however, was truly a driver for HARI with a whopping 70.5 percent sales growth. The main reason for this could be the new Kona, which seems to be a hit among SUV-crazy Filipinos.
Apart from these, trucks and buses were also a force to be reckoned with, as HaRI’s very own Truck and Bus brand made their way onto Philippine roads. This shows just how confident the Filipino businessman is about what Hyundai has to offer.
Yet HARI is not about to rest on its laurels. On the contrary, it has introduced new and exciting offerings like the new Hyundai Pallisade full-size SUV, along with the Kona EV—the first fully electric model from Hyundai. Both made their debut at this year’s 15th Manila International Auto Show earlier this month. With these two vehicles joining Hyundai’s formidable lineup, it looks like Korea’s finest is on its way to another stellar year this 2019.
