Jaguar E-Pace Set to Give the British Brand a Larger Slice of the Local SUV Pie

With almost every carmaker fielding Sport Utility Vehicles in varying sizes and segments, even premium brands like Jaguar seem to want a larger slice of this lucrative automotive pie. Case in point is the introduction of the Jaguar E-Pace at this year’s Manila International Auto Show at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

Smaller than the already svelte F-Pace, the E-Pace packs a few styling cues taken straight out of the venerable F-Type two-door’s styling handbook. The headlights, grille, side window kink, and rear taillights are just some cues. Then there are the air vents on the front bumper and sides.

But of course, this is an SUV with its own personality. It looks to do battle with the likes of the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and Audi Q3, among others. And it plans to do so with equally premium features to boot.

Take for instance the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, along with the 10-inch Jaguar TouchPro infotainment system. One can also get goodies like R-Dynamic treadplates, reverse traffic detection, perpendicular parking assist, and Sparkle Silver alloy rims, just to name a few.

Another ace up its sleeve is the 2.0-liter turbodiesel mill that packs 150hp, mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. This engine-tranny combo drives the front wheels.

And Jaguar believes  that its biggest ace is the competitive sticker price, which starts at P4,290,000.

You can see the all-new Jaguar E-Pace at the Manila International Auto Show, which runs from April 5-8, 2018 at the World Trade Center.
