Despite their growing popularity, many folks still see electric cars as transport for short distances, say within city limits. Yet one man proves that you can travel lengthy distances in a zero-emissions vehicle—fuss-free at that.

How long? Try 16,000kms.

Yes, this is how far polar explorer Marek Kaminski has journeyed using a second-generation Nissan Leaf. The gentleman from Poland, who is no stranger to cross-continent treks, began his trip around three months ago from his home country of Poland en route through various countries and continents to Japan

With a stock Nissan Leaf, the #NoTraceExpedition took Kaminski thru Lithuania, Belarus, Russia, Mongolia, China, and South Korea. His final stop was in Tokyo, Japan. All he needed were a set of cables consisting of varying types that allowed him to top up at any charging station along the way.

Just like any journey, this one required a lot of careful planning. One thing to take into consideration is where you will charge your Leaf along the way. And this he did as seen by his completion of some 16,000kms. The big difference with this adventure, as you can see from the hashtag, is that it leaves “no trace” of harmful emissions.

As if this isn’t enough, Marek will get back behind the tiller of the 100 percent electric car and drive back to Poland. All this proving that indeed, electric cars aren’t just for short trips.
