With offerings such as the GLA, GLC, GLE, and GLS in its lineup, you’d think that Mercedes-Benz’s SUV stable was already filled to the brim.

Apparently, the German luxury automaker doesn’t think so.

Hence, the entry of the new Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4Matic.

It may sound like a mouthful yet it likewise packs a lot in terms of features and tech.

The exterior, for instance, boasts of a few AMG trim  pieces, as well as the Panamericanna grille up front. This is the first time a 35 models wears this signature styling cue.

There are also 19-inch alloys that can be upgraded to 20s should the buyer wish to do so.

And of course, the cladding that makes it off-road ready.

Yes, this rig is capable, says Mercedes-AMG.

They’ve even added a new Slippery Mode to the Drive Mode Selector, giving it grip in low-traction surfaces.

This is in addition to the other modes that include Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Individual.

Powering the new GLB 35 4Matic is a 2.0-liter inline-4 with twin-scroll turbocharging that puts out 306hp and 400Nm of torque. This is good for a 5.2-second 0-100kph run with a 250kph governed top spped.

Transferring all that power to all four wheels is an 8-speed dual clutch gearbox with the aforementioned 4Matic all-wheel drive system.

Being a Merc, the cabin is typical luxurious with seating for seven.

There’s really nothing to write home about, and that’s a good thing. The MBUX infotainment system finds its way here, allowing users to control various vehicle, entertainment, and connectivity functions.

And yes, a whole suite of safety tech comes standard or as extra cost options.

Expect to see the new Mercedes-BenzGLB 35 4Matic hit the road within the year.
