According to the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), the Mitsubishi FUSO Canter is the Philippines' best-selling light-duty commercial vehicle in 2017. As regard, Mitsubishi Motor Philippines Corporation (MMPC) capitalized on that success by recently introducing the new version of the FUSO Canter for 2018.

As with the previous year’s models, the 2018 FUSO Canter features 3 variants; the FE71, FE84, and FE85. All variants feature modern exterior designs, including refreshed bumpers and grille. In addition, they can be optioned with a variety of chassis and body configurations to suit a wide array of business needs.

What’s new for the FUSO Canter this year is its power plant. Now, the business truck is motivated by a Euro 4-compliant inline 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox (5-speed manual for the FE71). This powertrain, according to MMPC, is cleaner and more fuel efficient than the previous version.

For starters, the FE71 rolls with a 3.0L engine that delivers 123 hp and 294 Nm of torque. The FE84, likewise, runs with a 3.0L mill, only that it churns out 143 hp with a pulling power of 362 Nm. Lastly, the FE85, being the biggest of them all, comes with a 5.0L engine that’s rated at 177 hp and 530 Nm of torque.

But MMPC didn’t stop there. The introduction of the 2018 FUSO Canter entails the company’s solidifying move to help the government’s PUV Modernization Program gain traction. In this light, MMPC highlighted the FE71’s capabilities as a commuter vehicle, able to carry 10 people with its passenger body option.

The 2018 Mitsubishi FUSO Canter is now available with an SRP of P1,315,000 for the FE71, P1,481,000 for the FE84, and P1,580,000 for the FE85. Do note that the prices mentioned are for the vehicles’ cab and chassis forms. Prices may vary depending on the body options required.
