The Asia Pacific region continues to be a strong market for Porsche as the German sports car maker posted strong sales for 2017. .Porsche pegged vehicle sales at 5,390 units.
As can be expected, it was the Porsche Macan that led the pack with 2,375 examples turned over to customers. Its bigger Cayenne brother also showed just how fascinated Asians are with Sport Utility Vehicles. This model was sold 1,377 times over the course of 2017. Another strong seller was the second-generation Panamera, which rolled out of showrooms roughly 600 times.
When it comes to Porsche’s specialty, the sports car, the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman witnessed a staggering 90% sales growth in the Asia Pacific region. And of course, the iconic 911 still sold fairly well with 367 copies turned over to discerning clients.
As for whch markets were top sellers, Singapore and Vietnam continue to top the charts. Taiwan, meanwhile, did well during its last year under the Porsche Asia Pacific division. It will eventually be sold under a joint venture with the previous importer—which will forge an independent organization.
Porsche is optimistic that 2018 will once again be another banner year for one of its strongest markets.
