If you’ve been following the hypercar race, you may have noticed that acceleration times are getting quicker by the generation. From a “quick” 4 seconds from around 20 or so years back, the stakes have been raised (or shrunk, in terms of times, that is).
Now, a new player wants to up the ante once again. And it’s not exactly one of the usual suspects, mind you. This is Tesla, and it puts forward the Roadster.
Revealed by no less than Tesla big boss Elon Musk, the next-generation Roadster is ssid to go from 0-100kph in an eye-watering (wait for it..) 1.9 seconds. Yes, that’s faster than a Bugatti Chiron, LaFerrari, and pretty much anything out there. And Musk even said that his electric hypercar can hit a top speed of 402kph, with the quarter-mile coming in at 8.8 ticks!
But wait, there’s more. Elon Musk also revealed that there will be a special option pack that will increase the Roadster’s performance even more. How much? Well, we’re not sure at this point. But with these kind of numbers, the next logical step is to take off—literally. So will the Tesla Roadster eventually become a flying car? And will all other hypercars take to the skies in the next few years, for that matter?
Stay tuned.
