It used to be that beep cardholders could reload their tap and go cards via loading stations at select convenience stores and the like. Now, doing so can be as simple as going to your nearest Automated Teller Machine.
AF Payments has recently signed a partnership with China Bank that will see the former’s beep card using the lattter’s ATMs for reloading. China Bank account holders can debit a minimum of P100 up to P1,000 in denominations of P100. This amount can then be stored in their beep cards for use on the MRT, LRT, and P2P buses.
A transaction fee of P10 will be charged for each reload, This, however, will be waived on the fifth transaction within the same month.
All this is part of beep card’s thrust to make life more convenient for the Filipino commuter. Not only does one get the chance to experience the ease of a tap and go automated payment system. It likewise allows the same commuter to easily top up their beep card via a few simple clicks at a secure ATM.
The service will be initially available at some 100 ATMs located near the MRT/LRT and P2P bus terminals. Expect to see more ATMs come on stream with the beep card logo within the next few months.
