For Road and Track: The New Porsche 911 GT3 Gets Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 Rubber

As the new Porsche 911 GT3 prepares to roll out of the factory onto the world’s most demanding racetracks and roads, Michelin is likewise coming along for the ride as it supplies the rubber for this cutting-edge driving machine.

The renowned tire producer announced that 8 out of 10 of the newest-generation Porsche 911 GT3 will be fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 N1 tires as standard equipment. The specially developed high performance tires will come in 245/35 ZR20 up front and 305/30 ZR20 at the rear. This is specifically designed to help bring out the best of the 500hp Porsche precision tool.

Michelin and Porsche say that it took them some two years to jointly develop the rubber that is specifically suited to the 911 GT3. Porsche fans are well aware that the GT3 is the car that closes the gap between road and track and makes this specific 911 variant suitable for the most demanding race circuits, yet still usable and comfortable for the everyday grtind.

Thanks to extensive fine-tuning at Ladoux, France and Nurburgring, Germany testing, the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 N1 tires offer exceptional stability, handing, and comfort. It can truly shine on both road and track. Moreover, it offers leading-edge tech like multi-compound, as well as Track Variable Contact Patch 3.0 technologies. These essentially ensure longer life and optimum contact with the road surface at all times.

Porsche is so confident of Michelin tires that the German carmaker uses the French tire maker’s products on its most advanced offerings. Michelin tires are standard equipment on models like the Porsche 918 Spyder and the Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
