In case you didn’t know it, Hyundai Asia Resources Inc (HARI) has been hard at work enriching the lives of countless Filipinos for the past 10 years. Besides selling various types of vehicles, Hyundai Motor Company’s Filipino distributor has likewise done a few good deeds via the HARI Foundation Inc (HFI).
For its latest act of kindness, HFI has chosen Rawang Elementary School in Tanay City as its latest beneficiary. Some 200 students were among the first to receive the Rainwater Harvesting System, an innovation of Prof Han Moo Young of the Engineering Department of the Seoul National University.
The ingenious filtration system essentially gathers rainwater that pours onto the roof gutter. This is then treated and turned into potable drinking water. Just like solar energy, rainwater is all natural and lessens the dependence on the water supply grid. And with the abundance of rain in the Philippines, the innovation makes perfect sense.
The latest endeavor is a partnership between HFI, Hyundai Motor Company, Better World, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of HMC, and local youth NGO Youth for Sustainable Development Assembly. Together, the partners aim to build “climate change resilient nations, one community at a time”.
