The recent 6th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) wasn’t just a display of the latest and greatest automobiles. It was likewise a venue where the best technicians from various brands were able to strut their stuff.
The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc (CAMPI) Technician Skills Demonstration pitted seven teams against each other in a battle of wit, knowledge, and other skills. In the end, Kia Marcos Highway Technician Jose Lumalang came out on top to bag the overall champion honors.
The contest was divided into three rounds. The first round was a question and answer portion. Next came Automotive Repair where participants took apart and re-assembled a starter motor. Finally, the Automotive Analysis round witnessed contestants troubleshooting an electrical problem. As if this wasn’t pressure enough, they had to do so under time constraints. Mr Lumalang garnered enough accumulated points to emerge victorious.
For Kia top executives, the win reflects their own commitment to give customers the very best—even after the sale is made.
