The true Land Rover lifestyle calls for roughing it out in the great outdoors. Those who know their Land Rover by heart are aware that these vehicles, despite being posh like the Discovery Sport for instance, are meant to go off the beaten path. Now, Land Rover encourages owners to do just that and even throws in some gear to make life a tad more comfy while out there.

Just in time for the Christmas season, this nifty log cabin has been designed specifically to fit snugly within the 1,698mm cargo hold of the compact Discovery Sport. The foldable wooden cabin was inspired by Santa’ very own home in the North Pole. And yes, it can keep the two occupants warm and toasty even at temperatures as frigid as -20 degrees Celsius.

The cabin was designed together with Danish architects LUMO using a virtual model done by Land Rover engineers. What’s cool about the little sleeper, apart from the Christmas-y look and all, is that it has been designed using the British luxury off-road specialist’s very own vehicles as inspiration and design brief. The Discovery Sport’s 212mm ride height, for instance, match the house’s wooden struts perfectly. Then there is the horizontal door that takes its cue from the vehicle’s panoramic moonroof, while the deck seat is like that found on the Discovery Sport’s tailgate.

Being a Land Rover, environment-friendly construction was definitely part of the package. There is a solar charger on the roof to power up various amenities to make life more comfortable while out in the wild. Plus, the Discovery Sport’s 12V power points can easily fire up lights and a kettle.

Thanks to the little cabin, Land Rover lets owners drive to their favorite camp site and stay there in relative comfort. All they need to do is unpack their cabin and voila! And they can do so even if it isn’t Christmas. Oh, and in case you want one, it’ll fit right into Santa’s sleigh. Wink, wink!
