If you’ve been keeping tabs on Range Rover and its Land Rover offerings, you may have noticed how they’ve evolved into more modern iterations of an otherwise timeless and classic profile. But the British luxury off-road maker, it seems, has succumbed to marketing and is set to come out with a new model that promises to be “avant-garde”.
The Velar is a new nameplate from Land Rover that sits right smack in between the Evoque and the Sport. While only teaser photos have been revealed as of press time, insiders say it will be truly modern and stylish.
Again, no other details have been unveiled about the Velar, which incidentally, comes from the Latin word velare, or to cover. Land Rover chose the name from a 1960s prototype. Don’t worry, though, as it is truly modern inside and out. We can expect a range of Ingenium engines and the company’s patented Terrain Response off-road gear. This will ensure that no matter how good-looking it is, it will still be as capable as a mountain goat.
Don’t fret, however, if you can’t exactly make out what the Land Rover Velar will look like. We’ll all find out together in a couple of weeks’ time when the Geneva Motor Show takes place. Stay tuned.
