For most people, their car is like their own personal space. Once inside, they can be anyone they wish, listen to whatever they please, and do pretty much whatever they want. Peugeot understands this and has come up with a concept car that takes this the next level: the Peugeot Instinct Concept.
The Peugeot Instinct Concept takes its cue from one word: freedom. The Shooting Brake looks, which show the car’s timeless appeal, are just one part. While it looks both sporty and elegant at the same time, the Peugeot Instinct actually takes its name to heart and instinctively learns your every wish, your mood, your style, and gives you the freedom to be who you are—literally.
It “learns” your favorite music, your schedule, your favorite eating places, and your driving style, among other things, through your various mobile and home devices. Utilizing Samsung Artik Cloud technology, the car seamlessly integrates with your various devices in order to help it personalize the entire driving experience to suit your fancy.
Say, for instance, you have a 9am meeting, which you saved on your smartphone’s calendar. Your car will “suggest”, thru an interface, that you leave the house early to avoid traffic. It comes up with the suggestion, by the way, based on weather and gridlock conditions. At the end of the day, it senses that you are tired, and takes over driving chores using the Autonomous Soft mode—to help your relax while on the way home.
Speaking of driving modes, the Peugeot Instinct Concept serves up four of these: Driving Boost, Driving Relax, Autonomous Sharp, and Autonomous Soft. Each one, as their names suggest, gives drivers the best driving characteristics to suit their style—even if the car is doing steering, braking, and maneuvering duties. In fact, it will still obey your commands even in Autonomous mode. Tell it to take a right turn while in Autonomous Soft and it will. And yes, it will suggest the best driving style suited to the road conditions. Of course, the driver will still have the last say.
To fully utilize one’s time on the road, the Responsive i-Cockpit shows all the relevant information as they are needed. Full driving mode naturally shows vehicle information while Autonomous mode displays distance traveled as well as the remaining time and kilometers left. Drivers and other vehicle occupants can each customize their displayed information, seat, climate, and other settings to suit their mood and needs. They can even connect to the net using the car’s infotainment system. And yes, the car will play their favorite music, again based on what’s on their music devices. All this can be done using a cool chatbot that lets one talk to the car in a natural manner.
While it may sound like the car is a stalker, Peugeot believes that this, along with self-driving cars, is the wave of the future. So just like social media, it’s best to think before you post to avoid spilling the beans to your car.
