Toyota Thailand Gives the Hilux a Mild Update; Adds Rocco Version

It may have only been two years since the eighth-generation Toyota Hilux was introduced to the market. Yet Toyota Thailand thinks that this is the perfect time to give its erstwhile pickup a makeover, hence a few tweaks to the exterior. It will also be fielding a new Rocco version to beef up the truck’s looks.

The new Hilux gets a hexagonal grille that echoes the one seen on the U.S.-market Tacoma. There is also a revised front bumper that houses c-shaped foglamp bezels. The bigger changes, however, can be seen in the aforementioned Rocco variant. This one gets black accents, body graphics, an exclusive bedliner, and a sports bar. The look is finished off with 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain rubber.

Just like the outside, the Rocco version’s cabin receives black accents for a more rugged look. Apart from this, the interior retains the car-like, functional theme.

The Toyota Hilux will still be powered by either a 2.8-liter 177hp, 450Nm four-pot or a 2.4-liter 150hp, 400Nm lump, both in diesel form. It comes in either 4x2 or 4x4 drivertrain.

The updated Toyota Hilux will be available in the Thai market.
