It’s sleek, it’s designed like a grand tourer, and it’s a crossover. This is the Lexus LF-1 Limitless Concept, which debuts at this year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
While the aforementioned description may be a bit of a contradiction, a quick look at the concept car’s flanks reveals that it isn’t so bad after all. In fact, the flowing lines mixed with sharp edges somehow make a lot of sense. The new spindle grille is a further evolution of the Lexus signature cue that gives the car its identity.
The long hood, low roof, tall ride height, and flowing edges all come together in an interplay of shapes that were designed by CALTY Design Research in California to symbolize fluidity in motion. These touches are complemented by the concept’s 22-inch wheels, mirrorless and handle-less doors, and split rear spoiler. In a nutshell, the LF-1 Limitless has a design that takes inspriation from a finely-crafted Japanese sword.
