Vespa Philippines starts 2018 on a fiery note as it joins the global battle against HIV/AIDS. In partnership with (RED), a US-based HIV/AIDS care and awareness organization, the Italian scooter maker recently unveiled a special version of the 946 model called the (RED) Edition.

Off the bat, the Vespa 946 (RED) Edition evokes a strong presence on the road. This is due to its striking red hot paintwork on most of its body panels including the seat, saddle cover, wheels, fairings, instrument cluster, and even the handlebars.

It also comes with optional accessories and lifestyle merchandise, likewise colored in red. These include a leather luggage, top fairing, helmet, shirt, and a mug to match the motif.

But of all the colors, why choose red?

According to Vespa, the color red is akin to elegance and style. It also symbolizes strength, the strength to end the reign of HIV/AIDS, one of the deadliest illnesses humanity is facing even to this day. By partnering with (RED), which also bares the same striking color theme, Vespa is able to express itself as being one with the world in getting rid of the illness and saving its victims.

Now, here comes the best part. For every Vespa 946 (RED) Edition sold in the Philippines, a portion of the sales will be handed over to the Zero Child HIV Foundation, a (RED) foundation focusing on giving medicines and care for children with HIV/AIDS. This announcement came from Engr. Willy Tee Ten, President of the Autohub Group and Head of Moto Italia Philippines, Inc., the exclusive distributor of Vespa in the country.

The arrival of the Vespa 946 (RED) Edition in the local market is also a win-win situation not just for its beneficiaries, but for its enthusiasts as well. Like all of Vespa’s bikes today, the 946 (RED) Edition comes boasting with top-quality engineering and design that exudes modernity while paying homage to the Vespas of yesteryears.

One of the 946 (RED) Edition’s highlighted tech feature is the ASR Traction Control system, a gizmo that prevents the rear wheel from spinning out due to loss of grip on slippery roads. This system is paired to a peppy 125cc 1-cylinder engine with direct fuel injection.

To those who wish to donate for the benefit of persons with HIV/AIDS, as well as Tuberculosis and Malaria, reach out to (RED) via this Donation Page.
