It’s no secret that the Chinese market has a liking for long wheelbase or stretched versions of sedans and even crossovers. Then there are models such as the BMW 1 Series which adds a trunk to what has always been a hatchback in this part of the world.
So it isn’t much of a surprise that Mercedes-Benz has come out with the new A-Class Sedan. Available in long wheelbase or L trim, the Chinese market-only offering is pretty much a four-door version of the latest-generation A-Class hatch revealed a few months ago. The added wheelbase length means more legroom for rear passengers who will most likely be driven around. The trunk, meanwhile, can take in around 420L of cargo.
Besides these changes, everything else is pretty much regular A-Class—including the Predator front fascia that is set to grace future Mercedes-Benz models. More of the A-Class theme continues inside, down to the dash with the 12.3-inch screens. The new MBUX user interface makes its way here, as does some other goodies found on the five-door offering.
