Fiat has churned out quite a number of special edition models for its little 500 throughout the car’s history. The Italian supermini has been rendered as a Mirror Special Edition as well as one that pays homage to the Gucci clothing line, the Gucci Special Edition. It now adds yet another unique twist to this list in the form of the Fiat 500 Spiaggina.
If this name sounds familiar, it actually uses the same moniker as the very first special model that came out some 60 years ago, in the summer of 1958. Known as the Jolly or Spiaggina, the new one-off version wears a few styling cues that take it back to theat very memorable summer.
A joint project between Pininfarina and Garage Italia, the roofless 500 Spiaggina features a speedster-like lowered windshield, an interior that removes the rear seats and instead uses a three-seater bench up front clad in period-correct waterproof upholstery, and chrome accents that hark back to the era. It is finished off with a Sky Blue and Pearl White paint scheme with matching vintage alloy wheels.
