The month of September was a great time for Honda Cars Philippines Inc (HCPI). The “ber” months, which traditionally signals the upcoming holiday season, was also a cause for celebration as HCPI reported its second best sales month in its entire history in the country.

The Japanese automaker sold a total of 2,520 vehicles for this month alone. Passenger car sales, for instance, were up by 57 percent from August, thanks to 1,747 units rolled out. Compared to the 1,113 units sold during the previous month, Honda’s best seller was still the Honda City with 847 Citys leaving Honda showrooms. This was beefed up by the Honda City 1.5 E Limited, a special variant that adds goodies like door visors, speed-sensing doorlocks, daytime running lights, keyfob-mounted panic button, and Limited badging.

Apart from the City, another top favorite was the all-new, 10th generation Honda Civic. Introduced last April, 1,443 Civics have been sold for the period of June to September of this year. September alone saw 602 Civics roll onto Philippine roads. Expect more Civics in the coming months, thanks to additional allocation and new variants like the Civic 1.8 E Module, RS Turbo Modulo, and RS Turbo Modulo Sport.

On the commercial vehicle front, the Mobilio, HR-V, and CR-V continue to perform well in their respective segments. Year-to-date figures show a 48 percent rise in sales compared to the same period (January to September) of last year. This year, 6,457 CVs were sold, vis-à-vis the 3,787 vehicle sales closed during the same months a year ago.

The Mobilio still leads the pack, with 3,889 Mobilios sold for the first nine months of 2016. HCPi credits this to the little MUV’s style, practicality, and versatility. Honda; however, isn’t about to rest on its laurels, as it is set to roll out the all-new seven-seat BR-V by December of this year. The BR-V is touted to be the most affordable seven-seat SUV in the market, which should give the competition a run for their money.

As mentioned above, Honda’s September sales were the second highest recorded in HCPI history. The best month was last March, with a total of 2,663 Hondas sold.
