Taut and dynamic—these are the traits that best describe the all-new Audi Q2. First seen in March of 2016 at the Geneva Motor Show, the Q2 makes its way to the Philippines via a launch event held at the Audi Philippines showroom in Greenhills, San Juan.
Audi’s foray into the fiercely fought compact crossover segment mixes the distinct four-rings style with a bit of urban chic. The signature single frame grille is flanked by sleek headlights with the trademark LED daytime running lights. From the side, the descending roofline is matched by a blacked-out C-pillar design that gives it a look all its own. Plus, the short overhangs add to the sporty vibe.
While the 4.19m long, 1.51m tall, and 1.79m wide Q2 may seem smallish on the outside, the Ingolstadt-based carmaker promises a capacious cabin for five occupants. The dash allows one to interact with the car, as well as the outside world. This is made possible thanks to the 5.8-inch Multi Media Interface (MMI) that can be controlled by a center tunnel-mounted rotary knob and buttons. One can likewise call up infotainment and vehicle functions using natural language voice commands.
The local-spec Audi Q2 will be powered by a small yet potent 1.0-liter three-cylinder TFSI gasoline direct-injection motor that puts out 116hp and 200Nm. It may not sound like much, but it is enough to power the little Audi CUV from rest to 100kph in just 10.1 seconds before hitting a 197kph top speed. It is paired with a 7-speed DSG transmission.
In addition to the quick yet efficient engine, the short overhangs, equally compact wheelbase, and firm yet supple suspension promise agility and nimbleness in town and out on the highway. The little Audi can be your daily driver and weekend warrior in one.
The new Audi Q2 will come in two variants: the Design (Php2,780,000) and S-Line (Php2,990,000). It is now available at all Audi showrooms in Greenhills, Global City, Alabang, and Cebu. For more information, visit Audi Philippines website.
