Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board Chairman Atty. Martin Delgra III (third from left) visits the beep™ booth displaying its latest payment solutions for public transportation during the 2nd Philippine Auto Parts Expo at the SMX Convention Center Mall of Asia. beep™ payment solutions offer a working fare collection system that can be readily installed in modern jeepneys and other PUVs. It supports the government’s PUV Modernization Program, which aims to make public transportation more convenient, safe, and environment-friendly.
With Delgra are AF Payments Inc. executives Johan Diaz (Senior Business Development Manager), Peter Maher (President and CEO), and Agnes Padilla (Marketing Head).
The national government, particularly the Department of Transportation, has been hard at work promoting its Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) Modernization program. It has been unveiling quite a number of models put together by various vehicle manufacturers such as Isuzu Philippines Corporation and the like.
In line with this, groups like AF Payments, official handlers of ebep cards in the country, are likewise putting forward an automated fare collection system to complement the new form of public transport. In fact, AF Payments showed off its latest line of such devices at the 2nd Philippine Auto Parts Expo at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
Just like the fare collection system already being used on certain modes of transport such as CityLink, BGC Bus, and the MRT and LRT, beep cards allow passengers to pay for their ride via a simple tap-and-go method. This not only makes it convenient as they need not fish for change, but it is safe as well as they can actually travel without lugging around any cash.
With this new fare system, drivers and operators are likewise assured that they get the exact amount from every passenger that comes on board. It’s all in line with the government’s aim of making public transport safe and convenient for all.
